Visits 10 June 2008 – Visit to Hereford Record Office starting 7.00pm for 1.5–2hrs. Staff will explain what information is held and how to access it. If you are interested, please contact Joan Thomas on 01600 750639.
22 June 2008 2.00pm – Guided Ecological Walk over Ewyas Harold Common.
This walk will be led by Tim Breakwell who is Project Manager for the Community Commons Project which is part of the Herefordshire Nature Trust.
The guided walk will primarily look at the ecology of Ewyas Harold Common and management works to safeguard it.
Topics will include :-
- management for pearl-bordered fritillary butterflies,
- dormouse surveying,
- fungi,
- reptile
- and wildflower interest.
If you'd like to join the walk, please inform Malcolm Howard on 01600 750443 and meet at the Abbey Dore entrance to the Common by 2.00pm. This entrance is at map reference 382301. From Ewyas Harold take the B4347 to Abbey Dore. At the second bend in the Z bend in Abbey Dore go straight on past Cwm Farm then take first left to reach the Common entrance.

9 September 2008 – Illustrated talk on the history of local roads titled “Trackway to Turnpike” by Heather Hurley.
14 October 2008 - – Illustrated talk titled “Blanche Parry” who came from Herefordshire and was Lady in Waiting to Queen Elizabeth1.
11 November 2008 – Illustrated talk on the Knights Templar and Hospitallers by Audrey Taper.
Activities
Future Heritage Photographic project . This will create a photographic record of life in the area now for the benefit of future generations. To be involved, please contact Hilary Smallwood on 01600 750411.
Oral History and Old Photo project . Through a combination of people’s memories and old photos, this will create a record of life in the area in days gone by for the interest of local people and future historians. To be involved or to contribute, please contact Malcolm Howard on 01600 750443.
Historic Research Training . As a follow-on to the 10 June Record Office visit, local historian Joan Thomas will give training to small groups in the autumn. To participate, contact Joan Thomas on 01600 750639.
